Well i still think that Ettin's solo with sword require Savage Slash because this attack is faster then normal attacks, so its easy to interupt Healing Signet *AND* its add more damage just like all the other sword skills, thats the best way i can see to use the energy i got from my gladiator armor

The only problem is that its got 20 seconds of recharge.

Actually they frequently drop major's i got about 5 major vigors and full pouch/bags limit of purples in a few runs

Well, I still haven't done THK, and don't have GW : F yet, so this is my build :

I have done only one attribute points quest, so I have 15 less. My attributes :
11 Healing Prayers
12+1+3 Axe Mastery
4+1 Strength

As mentioned before, after you're done with the Ettins in Nebo Terrace go to North Kryta Province, through the Ascalon Settlement, there you will find 4~10 more Ettins. After killing them just go back to Nebo Terrace and repeat until your inventory is full.

I cleared all the ettins in NKP and Nebo. Result: not one pauldron. not even a white one. NERFED.

NOT nerfed. I did one run yesterday unitil I had a pack full of minor major and superior runes plus a few common crafting materials. I got 2 superior monk runes, a rnager superior rune and a mesmer superior rune not to mention a bunch of random minor and majors. So not nerfed, those of you who think it is should take a brek from ettins for a little while and let their drop rate replenish. When my drop rate declines i'll farm something else for a couple of days then come back and the ettins will have good drops.

Well after not farmign the ettins for over a month, I still get no drops. WTF?!?

Maybe I need to find a better time in the day to go when others aren't killing the poor things...

This run sounds really interesting, will have to try it when I get back home today

Just wanted to tell you guys about a different farming run I did yesterday - I started off with my lvl 17 W/R (alone, full droks to make it a bit easier) from Yak's bend. Heading towards Iron Horse Mines, I killed everything in sight, then proceeded inside Iron Horse mines, I killed about half of the foes there before my inv was full so I decided to warp back. The loot? Here's the short list:

- Furious Giant Slayer's Hammer of Fortitude (Golden)
- Several blue and purple weapons from which I salvaged some pretty neat upgrade components,
- Black Dye (oh, yeah, come to daddy

)
- Rune of Major Vigor (salvaged from a purple beast rider harness)
- several other major runes,
- a lot of assorted junk to be sold at merchants or salvaged into crafting materials - note that for a lot of those dwarven robes/armor items you can get rare crafting materials, primarily steel ingots and leather squares.
All in all, I managed to get a total of 20-25 k worth of loot in a run that literally took me 20 mins to complete. Granted, I did get extremely lucky with that black dye, and it was on the third attempt.. the first two weren't so great (about 2-3k worth of loot each), so I'll try to farm those ettins around Ascalon Settelment, as you guys seem to get good drops there. This run can get a bit boring because it's not much of a challenge - the only thing you need to watch out for are the stone summit howlers - if there are any in the mob I found that leaving them for last usually works best. Kill everyone else, use healing sig as necessary, and wait for your attack skills to recharge before going for them - they've got vampiric touch so you want to be fast about killing them. I used lightning reflexes to get their health to about half, then the cyclone axe/executioner strike combo to finish them off.

It's all about luck here. I've been farming it with my W/Mo:

1) Frenzy
2) Sever Artery
3) Gash
4) Standing Slash
5) Silverwing Slash
6) Dragon Slash [E]
7) Vigorous Spirit
8) Sprint

Swordsmanship: 12+3
Strength: 8+1+3
Healing Prayers: 10

I use an Icy Dragon Sword of Defense, kills much faster with an elemental hilt. When I need mana I will switch to a zealous sword and leech back quite a bit of it while still killing ettins. I skip everything in Nebo Terrace and go straight to Northern Kryta Province.

Think it's time for me to switch to more serious farming, though.. BTW I did this run yesterday and got some nice loot, although nothing spectacular.. BUT I went on a quick farming run from Ice Tooth cave - those minotaurs are VERY easy to farm, with full droks they barely scratched me as I dispatched mobs of up to 10 of them.. and, I got myself another black dye (plus, a silver one). Anyway, the point of this post being, 2 black dyes, in two days, in northern shiverpeaks.. could be a coincidence, but if I were to go black dye hunting, that's where I'd go..

Well, I honestly can't say whether of not this ettin run has been nerfed or not - I've been doing it for 3 days now, on the first day I pulled one sup. rune (axe mastery - nice, but nothing spectacular), however during the last two days all I managed to get were some pretty worthless minor and major runes - all sell for 25gp at rune trader.. Might give it another go later. If anyone gets something nice here, please post so we know it's still possible. Another thing - in the middle of this area is the statue of Dwayna - if you kneel she will appear, and for 50 gp you can buy her blessing, so you get health and energy regen (constant, until you get back to town). When I did this, killing ettins became ridiculuosly easy, BUT I got pretty much nothing from them - could just be bad luck, but.. does anyone know if this affects the drops?

BTW here's my W/R build that worked well for me;
lvl 20 W/R, full droks armor (knight's), eternal shield arm. 16 with 5 dmg absorption and a totem axe for extra energy.
Strenght - 12
Axe Mastery - 11
Tactics - 8
(the rest, whatever, up to you)
skills:
lightning reflexes
executioner's strike
cyclone axe
disrupting chop
healing signet
sprint
endure pain
bonetti's defence (use whatever defensive stance you like here)

When attacking ettins, I try to make sure I take no more then 3 at a time, makes it a bit easier. I target the first one, when I get to it I activate lightning reflexes to quickly get about 30% of his health down and charge up my adrenaline. I give them one cyclone axe as soon as LR deactivates, at this point disrupting chop should be ready and the ettin targeted should try and activate it's healing sig. When he does, I use my disrupting chop, which also disables that skill (healing sig) for 20 secs - which is longer then he'll live, anyway. At this point, I use my defensive stance, endure pain, and/or healing sig as necessary to keep standing, and the combination of executioner's strike and cyclone axe to bring the first one down. If my health is below 50% when done, I usually sprint away to regen, then I can take the two remaining ettins in a single attempt.

Over the weekend I managed to get Sup vigor, Sup Absorb x 2, Sup Axe, Sup Protection, Sup Divine favour. and thats just the ones I kept. got a few more runes, that I gave away or sold.

Used my modified fow spider farming build.

Honestly, I have always had pretty speedy ettin kills with bleeding and healing signet interrupts.

In all honesty, I don't use the defensive stance at all during this run

I use LR for better damage over time, and so I get my adrenaline pumped up and my disrupt skill ready. Anyway, as you observed, it works... However, idiot that I am, I never bothered to read that there are ettins in N. Kryta as well to be farmed, with better drops no less. BTW yesterday I did this run (in Nebo terrace) and pulled one sup. Healing Prayers rune - again, not spectacular, but not a bad bit of cash on the side either from a single drop.. So I confirm - these guys still drop sup. runes. Since I've been playing for a long time now, and I've never even SEEN a sup. vigor rune (and I'm pissed about that

) I'll just keep repeating the run until I get at least 1 sup. vigor and 1 sup. absorption..

OK I suppose I should post my standard build here as well, so here goes.
W/Mo 20
I have an Icy Dragon Sword with 15^50 and Victo's Bulwark but any 15^50 sword and max shield will work.
Skills are as follows:

Battle Rage
Sever Artery
Gash
Silverwing slash
Galrath Slash
Final Thrust
Mending
Live Vicariously
I do not run past the mergoyle but kill them, it does not take long.
Then as you proceed east there are two pairs of Tengu, one wild and one scout.
Race in and kill the wild...he will strip your later enchantment, not a big deal.
kill the scout and reapply whichever enchantment you lost. charge the second wild and kill him, then the scout again. That done prepare to hunt.

Replace both enchantments and attack the Ettins
I have taken on 11 ettins with this build and survived. Energy is not an issue because you are using all adrenaline skills.
Follow the map posted at the beginning, but here is the real deal. Collect ONLY runic armors or gold weapons. leave everything else. When you reach the end of the map turn around and go back to Nebo Terrace again and kill the respawned ettins. you can do this all day long if you wish and since you are technically leaving an area into a city and coming back to the same area you will not have to deal with overfarming the area. You should bear in mind that there are slow times that you may not see a lot of runes dropping, but one good hunt will keep you coming back.
